What is Flourescent Albatross: Dragons and Dreamers?

Ultimately it's a cartoon epic. Seven Parts consisting of episodes of varying length. It is of course its own thing but it can be thought of as a combination of Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Love Death and Robots, and Shonen Anime.

Who is it for?

Humans. And myself, although not necessarily children (the potential for having a kid friendly version as a companion to my full vision is an opportunity for expansion of my target audience that is definitely a part of my ideas), because it does have violence, cursing, drugs, and romance. All in moderation, but the show doesn't refrain from more mature themes. The show also consists of a large cast of diverse characters. Featuring peoples of all races, religions, creeds, colors, sexual orientations etc. A lot of characters were created by important people in my life. I want anyone to be able to watch the show and have their own favorite character, someone they relate to. Whether it's a black gay tugboat captain or a depressed sex addict harmonica playing fish, there are alot of characters. As far as making it for myself, I just want to make the best cartoon ever made, because I want to watch it.

What are the themes, what is it about?

Thematically it is about compassion and how and why one chooses to live the way they do. Frequently discussed topics are Philosophy, God, Self, Consciousness, Love, Existence, Compassion, Kindness, Human Nature, etc. The show's themes tie into its narrative, as it's unafraid to embrace the metaphysical. The characters find out they are fictional so I can take my existential dread and dial it up to eleven. Them handling that information, the paradox of their own existence, is a big part of the show. It allows me complete creative control where talking about theoretical physics fits in alongside a giant robot slugging a giant monster in the face.

That being said, what is it about?

Well. It is a cartoon epic, with no narrative restrictions. The main Character Flourescent Albatross becomes enlightened as a fictional character, breaking through his reality into a hub universe that represents the conscious mind. He exists as a storybook character in the imagination. He is instructed by the Greater Gods to build a vessel and go on a quest gathering friends, followers, and warriors. He is told he is a messiah of sorts and must save all realities, fictional and physical alike. This does not sit well with our hero. His perception of reality has been demolished, he has recently been cursed, his status as his realm's golden child has been tarnished, he's lost his friends and is now told he is some sort of God. The beginning of our story sees our hero at his lowest he's ever been up to this point. But, he does as he's told and builds a massive first rate ship of the line (pirate ship for the uninitiated), and the series begins in earnest; our heroes flying through space on a giant pirate ship, gaining friends, helping people, and fighting enemies as they go. At first our heroes combat typical sci-fi fantasy foes; robots, aliens, dragons, monsters, etc. But, as the show progresses, the enemies they face are more conceptual. They fight the personification of humanity's flaws, the seven deadly sins are there, hatred, ignorance, fear, all enemies. Death makes several appearances in many forms, both literally and figuratively. Our protagonists fight some more personal demons of my own; anxiety, issues of self worth, depression, etc. I want to make a well animated, artistically stylized, thought provoking, beautiful, character driven cartoon that teaches compassion and kindness.
